With 6.2 million passengers in 2015, Göteborg Landvetter Airport is Sweden’s second-largest airport after Stockholm Arlanda. It serves the Gothenburg region as the city’s only commercial passenger airport.
The international terminal is in need of expansion owing to the growing flow of passengers through the airport in recent years. Above all, the airport aims to become able to accommodate larger airplanes and to better manage the flow of passengers coming from non-Schengen countries.
NCC‘s assignment involves adding three gates for airplanes and two for buses in the existing terminal. Once the expansion is completed, the size of the terminal will be approximately 10,000 square meters.
According to NCC, the project is carried out in the form of a partnering arrangement with the client, Swedavia. It is scheduled for completion during the second quarter of 2017. The estimated value of the order is SEK 760 million, roughly the equivalent of EUR 80 million.
