Kalmar, part of Cargotec, is to supply Immingham Container Terminal in the UK with four Kalmar Gloria reachstackers equipped with new Kalmar K-Motion technology.
The order is part of Associated British Ports’s (ABP) investments in modernizing their fleet to meet the growing demand for short sea container transit at the port.
Kalmar’s reachstackers will help the terminal reduce its operating costs significantly. With K-Motion, a new drive train system embedded into the programming of the Gloria reachstacker, further efficiency and productivity are achieved.
“The investments ABP is making at the terminal will help them remain competitive in this market sector,” said Dave Pattersson, Market Area Director at Kalmar UK and Ireland. “With the additions of four Gloria reachstackers to their fleet, they will be able to maximize the efficiency of their port, and benefit from a reduction in operating costs.”
The Immingham Container Terminal currently handles 135,000 TEU annually, while a 15% growth in the next five years is anticipated. The port already has an existing Kalmar fleet of seven units.
