Hiab Launches Revolutionary New Crane Stability System

Hiab, part of Cargotec, is introducing new solutions this week at the BedrijfsautoRAI 2015 exhibition in Amsterdam.

Among them is Variable Stability Limit PLUS (VSL PLUS), a new stability feature designed exclusively for Hiab’s range of heavy cranes.

VSL PLUS is a safety system that automatically regulates crane capacity in relation to the actual stability of the vehicle while it is working. The system achieves this by sensing the position of each stabiliser leg and whether or not there is a load on the truck.

Designed to protect the crane operator, the people nearby, as well as the crane and vehicle outfit, VSL PLUS offers major benefits in improved safety and stability by taking into account the total weight of the truck.

“VSL PLUS can take advantage of the vehicle’s loaded platform because the extra load on the truck acts as a counterweight,” explains Product Manager Sergio Peiró. “VSL PLUS automatically adjusts the crane’s lifting capacity on the basis of optimal stability, bringing major performance benefits to vehicles fitted with a heavy range crane.”

In addition to VSL PLUS, Hiab is launching three new models in its range of HIAB X-HiPro heavy cranes at the BedrijfsautoRAI exhibition this week.
