Fortum has won a contract to supply a combustion technology solution that helps reduce nitrogen emissions at a coal-fired power plant owned by EDF Group in Krakow, Poland.
The combustion technology of two boilers at the power plant will be renewed. As a result, the power plant will clearly meet the emission limits for nitrogen oxides set by the European Union’s Industrial Emissions Directive (IED).
Fortum has been providing expert services and technology for EDF Group’s combustion technology renewal project in Krakow for the past two years.
The latest delivery includes combustion technology modification plans for the power plant’s two boilers, as well as low-NOx burners that reduce nitrogen emissions. Furthermore, an upgrade of the boilers’ air distribution and automation will ensure consistent operation and lower emissions levels.
The renewal of the two boilers’ combustion technology is scheduled for 2016–2017.
