ABB and Microsoft have joined forces and launched their joint electric vehicle fast-charging services platform.
Available worldwide, the next-generation platform will connect ABB’s leading fast-charging technologies to Microsoft’s state-of-the-art Microsoft Azure cloud.
As a result, operators, manufacturers, and partners are given the opportunity to benefit from a world-class platform with ensured stability, global scalability, and advanced management features.
The electric car industry is growing rapidly. Over a million electric cars have already been sold worldwide, more than half of them in the past fourteen months only. With new models set to be launched, the sales are expected to keep accelerating.
There are currently around 106,000 publicly accessible EV charging stations in the world. Wider and more mature charging and energy infrastructure is going to be necessary.
Global revenue from EV charging services is set to grow from $152.6 million in 2015 to $2.9 billion by 2023, according to Navigant Research.
ABB and Microsoft introduced their platform last week at eCarTec, the world’s largest trade fair for electric and hybrid mobility, held in Munich.
